Mała Pętla Kamiennicka

Mała Pętla Kamiennicka

The start of the route is in Stara Kamienica. It is one of the oldest villages in the entire Jeleniogórska Kotlina with a rich history. It was established by the old Zittau-Jeleniogorsk route. There are speculations that the origins of Stara Kamienica can be traced back even to the 10th century. It is believed that there was here one of the castles or castles defending the Silesian-Czech or Silesian-Saxon border. A document dated 30.12.1242 by Duke Boleslaw Rogatka gave 7 łans of land and a castle in Stara Kamienica to the knight Siboto Scof (de nobili familia Ovium). He was supposedly the protoplast of the later illustrious and mighty Schaffgotsch family of Silesian knights. By a forest path we reach Antoniów, which was created in 1660-1670 as a grange in the Schaffgotsch estate. Before that, glassmakers associated with the Chromiec and Piechowice centers were active in the 17th century. In 1682 the village was named after Count Antoni von Schaffgotsch. In 1840 there was a paper mill here, as well as 140 spinners, 18 other craftsmen and tradesmen, a lawnmower, an oak bark grinding mill and a water mill. Until 1945 there was a hostel "Kromerbaude" with 12 places in 5 rooms. On the way back we have the opportunity to visit Kopaniec, where the biggest attraction is the Kopaniec Settlement, where old crafts, customs and traditions are revived (huts of blacksmiths, carpenters, potters, wicker and ropemakers, weavers, medicine men). Where you can hear the love song of a stray troubadour or the rubbishy lyrics of a drunken song, admire the dance and crude theatrical forms eagerly presented by the artists living in the settlement, taste medieval food.... It is a faithful reconstruction of a 13th-century settlement of agricultural and artisanal character. Built on a circular plan, surrounded by a natural fence, it presents an overview of the architecture of the past. This attraction, the only one of its kind in the Sudetenland, is an unusual "time machine" - a place where ancient crafts, customs and traditions are revived. The tour ends at the starting point.
